Fellowships & Grants

FEBS Fellowships & YTF Grants

Up to 40 FEBS YTF (Youth Travel Fund) grants covering travel, registration fee and full board for 7 nights will be available for students and postdoctoral fellows (within 5 years after obtaining their PhD) working in an academic institution of higher learning in any FEBS member country. Detailed information and FAQs on FEBS YTF Grants can be found here.

Eligibility, Conditions & Restrictions:

Student/postdoctoral applicants must be members of a FEBS Constituent society (see List of societies at WWW.FEBS.ORG) and submit via the online registration system:

  1. submit online an abstract as a first author.
  2. submit online a CV of maximal 2 pages in PDF format.
  3. apply online in the registration system for a YTF Grant.

Applications for YTF grants as well as abstracts and CVs must be submitted at the same time through the online registration system.

Furthermore, applicants must send by FAX or by sending it through the post to the ABC2008 Meeting Office not later than December 17, 2007:

  1. a verification of a FEBS constituent society membership (on society letterhead signed by the responsible office of the constituent society). Please write your name and as subject "FEBS-ABC2008: FEBS membership confirmation" on the coversheet of the fax.
  2. a signed letter of reference from a mentor/supervisor also confirming the status as a student/postdoctoral researcher. Please write your name and as subject "FEBS-ABC2008: YTF grant reference letter" on the coversheet of the fax.

FEMS YSMG Grants

Up to 12 FEMS Young Scientist Meeting Grants (YSMG) covering travel, registration fee and full board for 7 nights will be available for students and postdoctoral fellows working as microbiologists and younger than 36 years of age at the closing date of the meeting. 

Eligibility, Conditions & Restrictions:

To be eligible for a FEMS Young Scientists Meeting Grant, student/postdoctoral applicants must fullfill the following conditions:

To apply for the FEMS grant, applicants must submit via the online registration system:

  1. submit online an abstract as a first author.
  2. submit online a CV of maximal 2 pages in PDF format.
  3. apply online in the registration system for a FEMS grant.

Applications for the FEMS grant as well as abstracts and CVs must be submitted at the same time through the online registration system.

Furthermore, applicants must send by FAX or by sending it through the post to the ABC2008 Meeting Office not later than December 17, 2007:

  1. the completed FEMS Young Scientist Meeting Grant Application Form (PDF, 37KB). Please write your name and as subject "FEBS-ABC2008: FEMS YSMG Form " on the coversheet of the fax.
  2. a signed letter of reference from a mentor/supervisor also confirming the status as a student/postdoctoral researcher. Please write your name and as subject "FEBS-ABC2008: FEMS grant reference letter" on the coversheet of the fax.

Other Fellowships

A maximum of 10 fellowships and registration waivers will be available for students and postdoctoral researchers from North America/Canada and 4 fellowships for students from Asia.

Eligibility, Conditions & Restrictions:

  1. submit online an abstract as a first author.
  2. submit online a CV of maximal 2 pages in PDF format.
  3. apply online in the registration system for a North America or Asia grant.

Furthermore, applicants must send by FAX or by sending it through the post to the ABC2008 Meeting Office not later than December 17, 2007 a signed letter of reference from a mentor/supervisor also confirming the status as a student/postdoctoral researcher. Please write your name and as subject "FEBS-ABC2008: North America/Asia grant reference letter" on the coversheet of the fax.

Selection of awardees will be done by the organizers. The travel costs of awardees will be reimbursed during the meeting at the venue.
